Jellybean Math

The kids and I enjoyed some yummy math today. They each got a bowl of jellybeans and sorted the colors.

We talked about most and least and they guessed which color they would like the best. (This was William's first time ever trying jellybeans, and I think it was actually Ella's too!)

William ended up spitting out every single color. I guess jellybeans aren't his thing. ;) Ella loved them all, except for black. She's like her daddy!

Goldfish

Ella and I had some fun sorting and graphing (and eating!) rainbow goldfish today.

Learning is fun!

Candy Corn Math

Everyone in our house loves candy corn! It doesn't help that we're getting free candy corn at cvs. :) So tonight we made some educational use out of the Harvest Mix I picked up at cvs the other day.

First Ella worked on sorting the candy. This was easy.
Then we talked about which there was the most and least of, and guessed how many were in each cup. After that Ella made a bar graph of her candy corn.
And the cute boy for good measure.
After graphing we worked on some simple patterns. ABCABC and ABAB.

Ella had a lot of fun doing these activities, and especially getting to eat a few pieces at the end. ;)

Ladybug Graphing

Ella also worked on this cute graphing book. She had to count the ladybugs on each page (1-10) then graph that number with her fingerprints. She still has some trouble with 1-1 matching, so this was great practice for her, and again, she enjoyed the paint!
