Indian Corn

Ella and I were able to make a couple different Indian corns today.

She was so cute. She had little squares of red, orange and yellow and sorted the colors first before adding them to her corn.

All done! Good fine motor practice and it turned out cute! :)

Bubble wrap Indian corn

Ella and I made this today using bubble wrap.
Then using her fingerprint to add some nice red pieces in there.
I glued on some husks and voila!

A nice thanksgiving decoration for our house. (Ella keeps thinking it's Christmastime already, but I keep telling her we have to celebrate Thanksgiving before we get to Christmas!) :)

Candy Corn Math

Everyone in our house loves candy corn! It doesn't help that we're getting free candy corn at cvs. :) So tonight we made some educational use out of the Harvest Mix I picked up at cvs the other day.

First Ella worked on sorting the candy. This was easy.
Then we talked about which there was the most and least of, and guessed how many were in each cup. After that Ella made a bar graph of her candy corn.
And the cute boy for good measure.
After graphing we worked on some simple patterns. ABCABC and ABAB.

Ella had a lot of fun doing these activities, and especially getting to eat a few pieces at the end. ;)

Handprint Spider

The kids made these cute handprint spiders today. William's hand was so tiny I ended up painting all his fingers. So his spider is special and has 10 legs. :) Ella's has the correct amount. I'm so excited that Ella seemed to like getting her hand painted. It doesn't feel like that long ago that she was very anti-paint on her hands!
What fun! I love Fall/Halloween crafts!

Finger painted Fall Trees

Ella finally agreed to do an art project today! I was so excited! She wanted to make a colorful tree, so she made this cute fingerpainted fall tree. She had so much fun!

First she let me trace her arm and hand, and it served as her tree! (William wouldn't let me trace him.)
William made an attempt at his first art project, but he wasn't too sure about the paint...

Ella was really into it!! Her tree turned out beautiful!
I gave William a sponge to make the leaves, but he still wasn't feeling it. Oh well! Maybe next time he'll be more into it! Ella on the other hand had tons of fun and loved making the leaves fall from the tree. So pretty!

Turkey Time!

Ella and I had fun making this toilet paper roll turkey today. She picked the colors and glued everything on. (I put the glue spots down to help her.) She loved her little turkey!

Playing with her turkey.

The finished turkey!

I think it is too cute! It's currently serving as our table's centerpiece. It'll be perfect for Thanksgiving dinner!

Spooky Skeletons!

Ella's still enjoying our halloween themes, and especially loving these two books. We read them many times a day currently!

And she loves to be tickled as we sing this book.

So this morning we made an Ella skeleton!

And then we decorated some Indian Corn with our fingerprints.

In case you were wondering... mine is on the left, Ella's is on the right. ;)

Have I said how much I love Fall? There's so many fun things to make!

Happy Day!

We had another fun day! The sun was shining so we even got out to enjoy the beautiful weather!

Ella played with her magnetic letters today... putting the letters in ABC order, sorting colors, etc..

We finished her leaf wreath...and hung it on the door.

We played several games of concentration with her occupations cards. She beat me all four games!

She did a little letter matching...

And we melted crayons...which we later colored with.

Ella also had a playdate with her friend Gavin. We had so much fun!

Craft Day!

Ella and I haven't gotten to do any art projects lately, so when William decided to nap for a shocking two hours, Ella and I took advantage of our alone time.

First we made a pumpkin patch with the letter P. Ella painted grass onto the P with a toothbrush, colored her pumpkins, and glued them on! No pictures of Ella at work because my battery was charging.

She wanted to do more so we used orange paint to make halloween cookie cutter prints. After we were done Ella asked for the googly eyes so she could give the cats, bats, ghosts and pumpkins eyes. What a good idea she had!

Then I added mouths for a finishing touch!

Next we made coffee filter leaves.

These turned out really pretty. Mine is on the right, Ella's on the left. I have hopes to make these into decorative garland next fall. (Ella had enough after one.)

We had so much fun creating together this morning!

Fall Suncatcher

I forgot to post a picture of this the other day when Ella and I made it. I got this idea from here. What a fun thing to make! Ella wasn't all that patient though and after placing a couple pieces down one at a time she preferred to just grab a handful and dump them all. :)

Isn't it so pretty?

Creepy Crawly...

So cute!

Pumpkin Patch!

I mentioned several days ago that we'd be going to the pumpkin patch this weekend and I haven't heard the end of it from Ella ever since. She keeps reminding me. :) So today we made our own pumpkin in anticipation.

First Ella colored her pumpkin. Ella's not big on coloring unless it's with markers, and even then it looks like she's writing more than drawing. Mommy helped color.

Then Ella practiced ripping up construction paper into little pieces. This is a new skill for Ella and it wasn't easy.

Then she got to enjoy globbing on the glue; her favorite part!

And we stuck down the pieces to cover the pumpkin.

Ella's finished pumpkin.

We even made a stem.

Elmo & Fall Trees

Ella woke with a yucky cold this morning and is definitely not feeling herself today. We managed to get some art in in the morning though.

Ella loooves Elmo so today we colored this Elmo together. I cut out the pieces, and Ella glued them on. She dictated a sentence to me and I wrote her sentence. (My handwriting, but I wrote sideways, so it looks like a 5 year old's. :))

We've been talking about and reading a lot of books about Fall and the leaves changing colors, so we made two different fall trees.

This one where she sponged red, orange and yellow onto the top of the tree.

Ella's finished tree.

And this one. I cut out a tree, she glued it down, then decorated it with a q-tip using the red, yellow and orange paint.

Finished fall tree #2.

Ella has fun doing these art crafts, but I just may be having a little more fun than she. :) I always wanted to be an art teacher.:)
